Welcome to The Tapas
Williams & Brown Tapas Bar was opened by two friends, Christopher Williams and David Brown in March 2004, who were also joint owners of the very popular Williams & Brown Delicatessen, also located on Harbour Street in Whitstable. David has since become sole owner of the deli, now called Brown's Deli, whilst Chris has taken over the Tapas bar.
The whole ethos behind the restaurant has always been to bring authentic modern and traditional Spanish cooking to Whitstable, at affordable prices. The menus, although containing some well-established favourites, change with the seasons as one would expect, but there are always ‘new arrivals’ every week.
We have never tried to exactly recreate a tapas bar or bodega, straight from Barcelona, or Granada, rather interpret the best of those establishments to suit our climate, locale and clientele. The result, if the feedback from our customers is to be believed, is a rather special restaurant where one can sit at marble counters, watching the world go by, whilst enjoying an array of quick-fire Tapas, or a more leisurely meal at the tables, where more substantive dishes can be enjoyed.
We have appeared in every Which Good Food Guide, since we opened, as well as having had several glowing write-ups in some of the weekend nationals. The Saturday Telegraph listed us as being in the top ten Tapas bars in England.
In our seventh year now, we have matured into a restaurant with a style all of its own, with a very loyal following that includes locals and visitors alike. Chris continues to be in charge in the kitchen, with help from Andrew Cozens and Antonio Julio.
